User engagement on Ethereum has risen sharply in recent months. Analysts report that the number of active addresses climbed to

 were created, marking the largest single-day increase since early 2018.

Why Activity Is Rising Without Fee Spikes

Analysts attribute the sustained increase in network activity primarily to technical changes implemented throughout 2025. During the year, 

 underwent two major upgrades, Pectra and Fusaka, both aimed at improving scalability and lowering costs for users.

 increased data throughput, raised staking limits for validators, and introduced multiple performance improvements. Fusaka followed by implementing PeerDAS, which optimized data availability, reduced node load during periods of high demand, and helped keep transaction fees relatively stable even as usage increased.

Experts also point to rising institutional participation as an additional growth factor. Increased stablecoin usage, the expansion of tokenized real-world assets, and capital inflows through exchange-traded products have added sustained demand to the network without triggering sharp fee increases.

Ethereum developers are already preparing another round of major upgrades in 2026. The upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade will focus on overall network performance and resilience, while the subsequent Hegota upgrade is expected to target long-term architectural optimization and decentralization.

Despite growing competition from other blockchains, analysts note that Ethereum continues to serve as core infrastructure for stablecoins, real-world assets, decentralized finance, and yield-generating products.

Crypto mining and trading are now legal in Turkmenistan after a new law signed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedow entered into force this week. The legislation, 

 in late November, creates the country’s first formal legal basis for virtual assets and brings cryptocurrency activity into the regulated economy.

The law marks a clear policy shift for one of the world’s most closed economies. Until now, crypto activity operated in a legal gray area, without clear rules or protections. With the new framework active, authorities have moved crypto mining and exchange services under state oversight rather than informal tolerance.

 the change as part of a broader economic diversification effort, as Turkmenistan looks beyond natural gas exports and explores digital and technology-linked sectors.

The new legislation defines cryptocurrencies as 

” and places them under civil law. As a result, mining, storage, issuance, trading, and transfer of crypto assets now fall within a formal legal structure rather than remaining unregulated.

Under the law, crypto exchanges must operate through a licensing system. State bodies, led by the central bank, oversee registration, compliance, and operational standards. This approach gives the government direct visibility into crypto platforms operating inside the country.

At the same time, the law draws a clear line on usage. 

 are not recognized as legal tender, money, or securities. As a result, businesses and individuals cannot use crypto as an official means of payment, even though trading and mining are allowed.

Authorities said the framework aims to attract controlled investment while limiting financial risks. By requiring licenses and oversight, the government seeks to manage capital flows and reduce exposure to fraud and illicit finance.

The move also aligns with Turkmenistan’s efforts to modernize parts of its economy without loosening broader financial controls. While crypto mining could benefit from the country’s energy resources, participation remains tightly regulated through state approval.

However, broader constraints remain in place. Internet access in Turkmenistan continues to face heavy restrictions, which may limit how easily local users and firms engage with global crypto markets. As a result, practical adoption could remain concentrated among approved operators rather than the general public.

Still, the law establishes a clear legal starting point. For the first time, 

 in Turkmenistan operates under written rules, signaling cautious acceptance rather than outright prohibition.

Ethereum traded near $2,980 to $2,985 as two widely shared charts pointed to a long-term uptrend and a key resistance zone. Analysts on X highlighted a $1,800 to $2,900 accumulation band and said a breakout could set the tone for 2026.

Ethereum Long-Term Structure Points to Higher Targets

The chart uses a three-month ETHUSD view from TradingView and shows Ethereum trading inside a rising channel that has guided price action since the 2016–2017 cycle. At the time of the snapshot, Ether hovered near $2,980, remaining within the upper half of that channel.

The analysis highlights a broad accumulation range between roughly $1,800 and $2,900. This zone overlaps with prior resistance from earlier cycles that later flipped into support, a pattern commonly seen in long-term market structure. The chart marks this area as both “strong support” and an “accumulation zone,” suggesting sustained positioning rather than reactive buying during sharp moves.

 has continued to print higher lows across multiple cycles, even after deep drawdowns in 2018 and 2022. Price compressions inside the rising channel appear followed by expansions toward the upper boundary. Based on this rhythm, the projection path on the chart outlines a stair-step advance, with pauses and pullbacks, rather than a straight-line move.

The upper target band on the chart places $10,000 as a potential cycle objective if Ethereum follows its historical channel behavior into 2026. Beyond that, longer-term extensions toward the $20,000 to $30,000 region sit near higher channel resistance levels projected into the early 2030s. These levels align with long-dated horizontal reference lines drawn from prior macro highs and extensions.

Ethereum Near $3,000 as Long-Term Trendline Stays Intact

A chart shared on X by StockTrader Max shows 

trading just under $3,000, with price still riding a rising support line that has held since the 2018 low. At the time of the snapshot, ETH sat near $2,985 after a strong green candle, keeping the broader uptrend structure in place.

The chart also marks a flat resistance band near prior cycle highs. Ethereum has tested that zone more than once, then pulled back into the rising structure. That keeps the market in a tight decision area where buyers defend higher lows while sellers lean on the same ceiling.

Iran’s banking crisis deepened this week as protests spread across major cities following the bankruptcy of Ayandeh Bank, one of the country’s largest private lenders, and a renewed collapse in the rial that pushed street exchange rates to historic lows.

Authorities moved Ayandeh Bank’s operations under Bank Melli, a state owned lender, after regulators said the private bank could no longer meet its obligations. 

 media and international reporting have linked the failure to years of mismanagement, insider lending, and heavy exposure to real estate projects. Estimates circulating in foreign coverage say the bank served tens of millions of account holders, turning the collapse into a nationwide issue for households and businesses.

Officials sought to calm depositors by framing the move as a transfer rather than a liquidation. Still, videos shared online showed crowds gathering outside branches and commercial districts, as uncertainty spread over access to savings, payments, and salaries. The banking shock landed as Iran’s economy already faced high inflation, capital controls, and weak confidence in the financial system.

Pressure intensified after the Iranian rial slid to around 1.42 million per

 and video footage published by Sky News. The rate marked another milestone in a long decline that has eroded purchasing power and pushed up food and housing costs.

Human rights groups and regional outlets reported rallies by merchants and residents demanding relief from inflation and economic instability. Banking stress and broader financial strain

The turmoil in Iran comes as global banking risks remain in focus.
