Trump Crypto Wealth Hits $1.4B as 63% of Americans Question WLFI and Family Profits

A Reuters/Ipsos survey finds broad concern over Trump family crypto income and the influence of private business interests on White House decisions.

Trump Crypto Wealth Hits $1.4B as 63% of Americans Question WLFI and Family Profits

A majority of Americans believe President Donald Trump and his family have benefited inappropriately from cryptocurrency ventures since his return to the White House, adding another political complication to the administration’s increasingly close relationship with the digital asset industry.

A Reuters/Ipsos survey found that 63% of respondents considered the family’s crypto profits inappropriate, while 32% said they were appropriate. Among Republicans, the balance was reversed: 69% approved of the earnings and 27% disapproved.

The poll surveyed 1,166 U.S. adults over four days ending Aug. 17 and carried a margin of error of about three percentage points for the full sample.

Private Business Interests Raise Broader Concerns

The results extended beyond cryptocurrency. Some 69% of Americans said they believed Trump allows his private business interests to influence presidential decisions. Notably, half of Republican respondents also agreed with that assessment.

The issue has become more prominent as crypto takes a larger role in the Trump family’s finances. Trump reported more than $1.4 billion in income from family cryptocurrency ventures during 2025, according to his latest financial disclosure. Those businesses include World Liberty Financial and the president’s branded meme coin.

The wider Trump-linked crypto business has generated billions of dollars across token sales and other ventures, while projects including WLFI have also attracted scrutiny over their structure, investors and political connections. Coinpaper previously examined how much the Trump family made from crypto and the growing role digital assets have played in Trump’s reported wealth.

Crypto Policy Adds to Conflict-of-Interest Debate

The White House rejects claims that Trump’s business holdings influence government policy. Spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Reuters that the president’s investments are independently managed and said Trump acts in the interests of the American public.

Democratic lawmakers have nevertheless pushed for tighter safeguards. Senator Elizabeth Warren asked Trump in July to release updated financial disclosures, arguing that Congress needs more current information while considering legislation that could affect the value of crypto assets connected to public officials.

The controversy is particularly relevant as Trump continues pressing lawmakers to approve the CLARITY Act. The bill would establish a broader regulatory structure for digital assets, but negotiations have been complicated in part by Democratic demands for stronger restrictions on elected officials profiting from crypto.

The poll also lands less than three months before the November midterm elections. A separate Financial Times/Focaldata survey found that more than 53% of registered voters believe their personal finances have deteriorated since Trump returned to office, while Democrats held a 44%-39% advantage in congressional voting intentions.
