XRPL Overtakes Ethereum as RLUSD Supply Surges Past $800 Million

The XRP Ledger has reached a significant milestone, overtaking Ethereum as the largest host of Ripple USD (RLUSD) for the first time. XRPL now holds approximately $801 million in RLUSD supply, surpassing Ethereum’s $795 million and signaling a notable shift in the stablecoin landscape.

The milestone comes as RLUSD expands its global footprint, including its recognition as the first regulated U.S. dollar-backed stablecoin on Japanese soil.

Why is this a significant stride for the Ripple ecosystem? Well, the story extends far beyond stablecoin supply figures. RLUSD is rapidly becoming one of the strongest adoption catalysts in XRP Ledger’s history.

Built for regulatory compliance and institutional-grade use, the stablecoin is attracting banks, payment providers, custodians, and exchanges seeking trusted digital dollar infrastructure.

Given that RLUSD is natively issued on XRPL, institutions integrating the stablecoin are also connecting directly to the XRP Ledger infrastructure. This creates a powerful network effect because once organizations are onboarded for RLUSD, they can easily expand into other XRPL-based assets and services.

RLUSD’s XRPL Surge Signals a Potential Shift in Institutional Blockchain Adoption

What’s happening behind the scenes? Well, RLUSD is doing more than bringing liquidity to the network, it is accelerating adoption across payments, tokenization, and real-world asset markets.

As a result, major exchanges and financial service providers are already strengthening their XRPL integrations to support growing RLUSD demand, giving other XRPL-native assets greater exposure and institutional accessibility.

This development is particularly noteworthy given Ethereum’s long-standing dominance in token issuance. For years, Ethereum’s ERC-20 ecosystem benefited from deep integrations across exchanges, custodians, and financial institutions, making it the default choice for many enterprise initiatives.

Nevertheless, the fact that XRPL now hosts more RLUSD than Ethereum suggests institutional momentum may be shifting. While large organizations move cautiously, requiring extensive compliance reviews and technical testing before adopting new infrastructure, RLUSD appears to be accelerating that transition.

If this trend continues, RLUSD could emerge as the catalyst that transforms XRP Ledger from a payments-focused blockchain into one of the digital asset industry's leading institutional networks.
