Key takeaways

  • Amazon ended its four-year Grubhub partnership and introduced Uber Eats as its new restaurant delivery partner
  • Subscribers receive $0 delivery fees on qualifying orders of $25 or more
  • The partnership increases competitive pressure on DoorDash

Amazon has announced a major partnership with Uber Eats, and replaced Grubhub as its restaurant delivery partner for US Prime members. The agreement was unveiled on Nov. 5, 2026, and it allows subscribers to order food directly through Amazon's website and shopping app while eliminating delivery fees on qualifying orders.

The move strengthens Amazon's position in the very competitive food delivery market and gives Uber Eats access to Amazon's extensive Prime membership base.

Amazon Prime Members Get New Uber Eats Benefits

Under the new agreement, Prime subscribers receive $0 delivery fees on restaurant orders of $25 or more placed through Amazon.com or the Amazon Shopping app. The service covers hundreds of thousands of restaurants in almost 10,000 US cities and towns, including major chains like Chipotle, Wingstop and Sweetgreen.

To encourage adoption, Amazon is offering members $20 off each of their first two qualifying orders during an introductory 14-day period. Eligible Prime Visa cardholders can also earn 5% back on Uber Eats purchases through Dec. 5, 2026.

Customers can place orders using their existing Amazon accounts without downloading the Uber Eats application or creating additional login credentials.

Amazon estimates that the partnership could save Prime members more than $175 annually, although actual savings depend on ordering frequency and available promotions.

Amazon Ends Grubhub Partnership After Four Years

The agreement brought an end to Amazon's relationship with Grubhub, which began in 2022. Amazon initially offered Prime members complimentary access to Grubhub+, before making the subscription benefit permanent in 2024.

However, the company confirmed that its commercial agreement with Grubhub ended on Nov. 5.

The transition is part of Amazon's strategy to expand Prime benefits through established delivery platforms rather than operating its own restaurant delivery infrastructure.

Uber Eats Deal Intensifies Competition With DoorDash

The partnership was struck as competition among major US delivery companies accelerates. DoorDash recently announced a proposed $17 billion acquisition of Instacart, which could potentially expand its influence across restaurant and grocery delivery.

Meanwhile, Amazon's agreement gives Uber Eats another distribution channel and an opportunity to attract more customers through Prime.

For Amazon, integrating restaurant delivery directly into its shopping platform could increase customer engagement while also strengthening Prime's appeal. For Uber, the partnership could drive additional restaurant orders and boost its position against DoorDash.

Although the financial terms of the agreement have not been shared, the partnership is a huge step in the battle for US food delivery customers.
