Amazon Prime Customers Could Get Up to $200 as New Settlement Payments Begin

Amazon has started sending new Prime settlement payments, with millions more customers eligible for automatic refunds of up to $200.

Amazon has started a new round of settlement payments to Prime customers, and millions more consumers are potentially eligible for refunds. The maximum total payout rose to $200.

The expanded payments began on Oct. 1 under a revised court order connected to Amazon's $2.5 billion settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. Customers who qualify do not need to submit a claim or complete additional paperwork, according to the FTC.

Millions More Amazon Prime Customers Now Qualify

The settlement stems from FTC allegations that Amazon enrolled consumers in Prime subscriptions without their consent and made the service unnecessarily difficult to cancel. Amazon agreed in September of 2025 to pay a $1 billion civil penalty and provide up to $1.5 billion in consumer refunds.

More than $845 million had already been distributed to consumers by September 2026.

Earlier phases mostly provided refunds of up to $51 to qualifying customers who used fewer than 10 Prime benefits during a one-year period. The revised settlement expands that group.

Amazon is now issuing automatic payments to eligible customers who used between 11 and 20 Prime benefits during a 12-month period. That could bring millions of customers who missed the previous rounds into the settlement program.

Eligible consumers can receive their money through PayPal, Venmo or a mailed check. The FTC says customers do not need to file a claim, respond to a notice or fill out forms to receive the automatic payments.

Amazon Refunds Can Now Reach $200

The revised agreement also raises the maximum total payment per eligible customer from $51 to $200. Customers who previously received money from the settlement could eventually receive another payment of up to $149.

Under the court order, Amazon will reconcile the remaining consumer fund by the end of March 2027. If accepted payments stay below $1 billion, additional payments will be distributed to previously paid customers, which could potentially bring their total compensation to $200.

The FTC says eligible customers should receive their refunds by April 2027.
