Key takeaways

  • JPMorgan raised its SpaceX stock price target to $500 for December 2027
  • While JPMorgan is highly bullish, The Motley Fool forecasts a more conservative $175.25 share price
  • SpaceX's expanding AI business, strong earnings and ambitious revenue targets could support growth

SpaceX stock price predictions for 2027 are turning heads after JPMorgan more than doubled its price target for Elon Musk's aerospace and artificial intelligence company. However, a new forecast from The Motley Fool suggests investors may need to temper expectations despite the company's impressive growth.

SpaceX shares closed at $136.37 on Nov. 2, which was slightly above their June initial public offering price of $135. This came as investors weighed ambitious growth projections against the company's massive valuation.

JPMorgan Predicts SpaceX Stock Could Reach $500

JPMorgan raised its SpaceX stock price target from $240 to $500 on Oct. 21, and maintained an Overweight rating. The December 2027 forecast represents a 260+% upside from the stock's Nov. 2 closing price.

The investment bank's bullish outlook followed SpaceX's strong third-quarter earnings, which saw revenue surge 161% year over year to approximately $14.6 billion. The company also reported $4.4 billion in net income, compared with a $1.1 billion loss during the same period last year.

JPMorgan expects SpaceX to generate approximately $254 billion in revenue during 2027, driven largely by the expansion of its artificial intelligence computing operations. However, the company faces enormous investment requirements. JPMorgan is projecting roughly $300 billion in capital expenditures during 2027.

Motley Fool Offers More Conservative Predictions

A Nov. 2 analysis from The Motley Fool presented a more cautious outlook, and forecasted that SpaceX shares could reach approximately $175.25 by the end of 2027. That would represent roughly 29% upside from the Nov. 2 closing price.

The publication also shared a more optimistic scenario of approximately $233 per share, although uncertainties surrounding execution, competition and valuation could limit gains.

Other Wall Street analysts are divided. Morgan Stanley has a $300 price target, while UBS has a $230 target. According to Stock Analysis, the average 12-month price target among 39 analysts stands at approximately $257.

What Could Drive SpaceX Stock Higher in 2027?

SpaceX's growing artificial intelligence business could become a major catalyst for its stock performance. Musk revealed ambitious plans to expand computing capacity and suggested the company could exit 2027 with annual recurring revenue between $500 billion and $1 trillion.

Starlink expansion, Starship development and potential corporate restructuring could also influence investor sentiment.

Nevertheless, the company's massive spending requirements, operational challenges and elevated valuation are all important risks. With forecasts ranging from below $100 to $500 and beyond, SpaceX's 2027 stock performance will depend heavily on whether its ambitious growth plans actually translate into sustainable earnings.
