SpaceX Earnings Report Today: Can AI Revive SPCX Stock Rally?

strategy, Starlink growth, and a major insider lockup expiration this week.

SpaceX will release its first quarterly earnings report as a public company after the market closes on August 4, with investors watching management's comments on artificial intelligence, Starlink, and long-term growth plans more closely than the quarterly numbers.

The report arrives after the stock lost about 15% from its $135 IPO price and more than 50% from its post-listing peak, placing added attention on the company's outlook. At press time, SPCX price was trading at $117, up 2.75% from the intra-day low.

Wall Street expects SpaceX to report a quarterly loss, while analysts continue to focus on the company's AI strategy, satellite business, and progress toward building orbital data center infrastructure. Another major event follows just two days later when the first insider lockup period expires, increasing the number of shares available for trading.

Analysts expect SpaceX to report its second-quarter financial results after the closing bell, followed by an earnings call with investors and analysts. Market estimates point to a loss of about $0.23 per share on revenue of approximately $6.82 billion.

Several analysts have indicated that management's outlook may carry more weight than the reported earnings. Bernstein said "“the quarterly results should not matter”" and added that investor attention remains fixed on the company's confidence in artificial intelligence and orbital data center plans.

The firm maintained an Outperform rating and a $239 price target on SpaceX. Analysts said the long-term investment case depends on successful Starship reuse, sufficient semiconductor capacity, regulatory progress, and continued demand for AI computing services.

Deutsche Bank also expects results to meet market estimates and believes the stock could stabilize after the first lockup expiration. The bank identified AI-related growth as the primary driver for future valuation rather than short-term earnings performance.

Starlink remains another major focus for investors because it continues to generate recurring revenue through global satellite internet services. Analysts will look for updates on subscriber growth, commercial contracts, and future expansion plans during the earnings call.

Lockup Expiration Adds Near-Term Pressure

SpaceX shareholders are also preparing for the company's first post-IPO lockup expiration on August 6. The event will allow insiders and early investors to begin selling a large number of previously restricted shares.

Current estimates suggest roughly 911 million shares could become eligible for trading through the first release period. Based on recent market prices, those shares represent more than $100 billion in potential market value. Additional lockup releases are expected over the coming months, increasing the public float in stages.

The approaching expiration has contributed to recent volatility in SpaceX shares. The stock has fallen sharply from its June high as investors assess how additional share supply could affect trading activity after earnings.

Analysts are also expected to ask Elon Musk about Starship testing, future launch timelines, satellite expansion, and reported plans for large orbital data centers designed to support artificial intelligence computing.

Texas Investment and Long-Term Growth Plans

Ahead of the earnings release, SpaceX also advanced one of its Texas projects by making an early payment under its Terafab tax agreement. The company paid Grimes County $10 million before the scheduled deadline, representing nearly 40% of the county's expected 2026 property tax revenue.

County officials said the funds could support infrastructure projects, employee compensation, and staff retention. Representatives from SpaceX and the Terafab project are scheduled to answer questions during the August 5 Commissioners Court meeting.

Reports indicate the broader Terafab project could eventually involve investments of up to $119 billion. The company is also expanding AI computing capacity through new data center development in Texas while continuing work on satellite infrastructure and launch systems.
