Amid Market Turmoil, South Korea Is Trading Nearly 4x More XRP Than Bitcoin

South Korea is once again demonstrating why it remains one of the world's most influential XRP markets.

According to market analyst Xaif Crypto, XRP is now trading at nearly four times the volume of Bitcoin across South Korea's leading cryptocurrency exchanges, underscoring an exceptional level of retail demand.

More notably, this surge comes as the country's traditional financial markets are experiencing one of their steepest selloffs in decades, creating a stark contrast between weakening equities and thriving crypto activity.

The trend has been building for weeks. On Upbit, South Korea's largest crypto exchange, XRP recently generated more than twice Bitcoin's trading volume, with roughly $86 million in turnover, reaffirming its status as one of the country's most actively traded digital assets.

South Korea's XRP Frenzy Leaves Bitcoin Behind as Stocks Tumble

On the other hand, market insights firm The Kobeissi Letter has also reported that South Korea's stock market has tumbled 44% in just 40 days, erasing nearly $2 trillion in market value. The sharp decline prompted the finance ministry to unveil measures aimed at stabilizing markets and restoring investor confidence.

While some may assume investors are simply shifting capital from stocks into XRP, the picture is far more complex.

South Korea has long been a global stronghold for XRP. Unlike most Western markets, where Bitcoin dominates trading activity, Korean retail investors have consistently embraced XRP, frequently pushing it to the top of exchange volume rankings during periods of heightened market interest.

Well, XRP's nearly 4x  lead over Bitcoin reflects how actively the asset is changing hands, not that four times as many investors hold XRP. As a result, it's a telling signal about intense market participation and strong liquidity.

This enthusiasm continues to be fueled by Ripple's expanding ecosystem. Progress across the XRP Ledger, the growth of RLUSD, tokenization initiatives, and Ripple's expanding cross-border payments strategy have kept XRP firmly in the spotlight. South Korea's highly active retail traders also have a history of rotating into assets they believe offer the strongest upside, and XRP has consistently ranked among their top choices.

The turbulence in South Korea's stock market may be encouraging some investors to diversify into digital assets, but history suggests that's only part of the story. XRP's dominance is rooted in years of strong local adoption rather than a short-term reaction to equity market weakness.

Ultimately, these developments reinforce South Korea's outsized influence on the XRP ecosystem. Combined with growing institutional adoption in Japan and rising ETF-driven demand in the United States, the three markets are increasingly shaping global XRP liquidity, trading activity, and long-term adoption.
