The event hosted by the Warsaw University of Technology marks an important milestone in the Ethereum development – the Merge. Ethereum’s transition from PoS to PoW, one of the most hotly anticipated events in crypto history, is set to take place around September 10-20, and the Beacon Chain hard fork is on September 6.

The conference will last for two days, followed by two days of hackathon, from September 1 to September 4. Confirmed headline speakers at ETHWarsaw include Sam MacPherson, a protocol engineering team member at MakerDAO, Julien Bouteloup, Founder of Stake Capital and StakeDAO, Stani Kulechov, founder and CEO of a decentralized lending protocol Aave, Olaf Tomalka, a senior engineer at MetaMask, Sumit Kishore, Product Lead at Consensys, and many more.

The 17:30 Friday time slot is reserved for the event’s surprise speaker who was initially speculated to be Vitalik Buterin but later it became known that the web3 superstar won’t be able to attend the conference, much to the disappointment of ETHWarsaw participants.

"Dzień dobry ETHWarsaw! I'm sorry I can't come to your event (...), and thank you for all that you're doing," said Buterin, addressing the conference from a big screen.

But even without the web3 superstar, there are many attractions awaiting ETHWarsaw attendees. Discussion panels with industry veterans, workshops for web3 newcomers, and talk rounds will not leave anyone indifferent, not to mention numerous side meetups organized by Blockchain Girls, DAIvinity, H.E.R. DAO, and Womxn in web3.

“Our core team has been frequenting multiple conferences all around the world and we recognize the incredible value that comes from such events. That’s why we want to bring the same to Warsaw. With some of the world-best technology universities, a student population upwards of 220,000, and rising interest in blockchain, Warsaw has the potential to become one of Europe’s leading hubs for Ethereum developers and blockchain innovation,” said Paulina Joskow, ETHWarsaw Core & Head of Commercial at Ramp, in a press release.

During the September 3 overnight hacking session, hackathon participants will have a chance to win up to $70,000 while gaining hands-on experience with advanced tools and applications. The session will be preceded by a panel discussion on how to make a hackathon project stand out, with participation from TrueFi CTO Marek Kirejczyk, Aave founder Stani Kulechov, Matter Labs CEO Alex Gluchowski, and RedStone founder Jakub Wojciechowski.

Besides the Merge, which is obviously the hottest topic of the conference, ETHWarsaw attendees will also discuss scalability, decentralized governance, DeFi, blockchain security, and web3 trends
