Key takeaways
- XRP Ledger active accounts reach highest 2026 level
- XRP price falls despite stronger blockchain transaction activity
- Network usage does not guarantee increased token demand
The XRP Ledger recorded its highest daily active-account count of 2026 this week, but the surge in blockchain activity has failed to translate into stronger demand for XRP.
Active accounts reached 32,604 on October 27, approximately 68% above the 30-day average of 19,400, according to figures reported by XRPScan on October 29.
Meanwhile, XRP traded around $1.29 on Thursday, declining approximately 2.6% over 24 hours. The cryptocurrency has lost roughly 13% over the past month, highlighting the growing divergence between XRPL usage and its native token's market performance.
XRP Ledger Active Accounts Jump 68% Above Monthly Average
The October 27 reading represents a significant recovery in network participation following several months of uneven activity.
Daily active accounts generally fluctuated between 13,000 and 20,000 during much of 2026, while activity briefly fell toward 4,000 in late August and early September.
The latest count is more than eight times that earlier low, although it remains well below the network's historical peak.
However, active accounts represent unique transaction senders, not necessarily individual users. A single institution can control multiple wallets, while automated trading systems can generate substantial activity without attracting new investors.
This distinction has previously complicated interpretations of XRPL growth.
In August, Coinpaper reported a 200% activity spike accompanied by an 89% decline in payment volume.
A separate October investigation found that daily order-book traders had fallen approximately 40% year over year even as trading volume increased 79%.
The latest account surge therefore demonstrates increased network participation, but its economic significance depends on which transactions are driving the increase.
Why XRP Price Keeps Falling Despite Stronger Network Activity
XRP's weakness comes as selling pressure across cryptocurrency markets continues to outweigh signs of improving XRPL adoption.
The token approached $1.29 on October 29 after trading above $1.50 earlier in the month.
Previous exchange-flow data showed 6.05 billion XRP moving onto trading platforms over 30 days through October 19, although exchange deposits do not automatically indicate completed sales.
Meanwhile, institutional investment has not guaranteed positive price performance.
Coinpaper previously reported that XRP ETF investors added more than $110 million during their strongest week of 2026, yet XRP struggled to sustain a recovery.
The disconnect is partly structural. Stablecoin transfers, automated market-making transactions and other XRPL operations can increase ledger activity without requiring participants to buy substantial additional amounts of XRP.
The network's expanding sponsored-wallet proposal could eventually allow customers to use XRPL applications without personally funding account reserves, although the feature has not been activated.
Can XRP Recover as Network Usage Expands?
For now, XRP remains under pressure near $1.29, with the $1.25 area representing an important near-term level watched by technical traders.
A recovery toward $1.33-$1.37 could indicate improving momentum, while a sustained move below $1.25 would expose the token to additional downside risk.
Investors are also monitoring Ripple's scheduled November 1 escrow release, which could make up to one billion previously locked tokens available.
