XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Goes Live, Paving the Way for Advanced DeFi and Tokenization Through Institutional-Ready Infrastructure

XRP Ledger 3.3.0 Goes Live With Native Privacy, Enterprise Features, and Major Performance Gains 

The XRP Ledger has entered a new phase with the release of xrpld version 3.3.0, one of the network's most significant upgrades to date. 

More than a routine software update, the release introduces infrastructure built for institutional finance, tokenization, privacy, and advanced decentralized applications while improving overall network performance.

The XRP Ledger Operations team confirmed that version 3.3.0 is now live, with six new amendments entering the validator voting process. Although these features require validator approval before activation, developers and enterprises can now prepare for capabilities that have been in development for months.

Leading the upgrade is Confidential Transfers, XRPL's first native privacy feature. It enables encrypted Multi-Purpose Token (MPT) balances and transfers, allowing sensitive financial data to remain private while preserving on-chain verification. 

Well, this addition is expected to make XRPL more attractive to financial institutions and businesses handling tokenized assets.

Another standout feature is Batch Transactions, which allows up to eight transactions to execute atomically. Every transaction in the batch either succeeds together or fails together, eliminating partial execution risk. This unlocks more advanced use cases, including trustless OTC settlements, sophisticated DeFi strategies, and institutional trading workflows.

XRP Ledger Unveils Landmark 3.3.0 Upgrade Built for Institutional Finance, Privacy, and Tokenization 

The release also introduces Permission Delegation, enabling organizations to authorize specific wallets to perform limited transactions while keeping treasury funds safely stored in cold wallets. 

Paired with the Sponsor amendment, which allows third parties to cover transaction fees and reserve requirements for users, the upgrade strengthens enterprise security while making onboarding easier for newcomers.

Completing the feature set are Dynamic MPT, which lets issuers modify certain token properties after issuance, and fixCleanup, a collection of protocol enhancements and bug fixes that further improve network stability and reliability.

Beyond new functionality, xrpld 3.3.0 delivers meaningful performance improvements. Developers report 10–15% lower memory usage, with even greater reductions under some workloads, alongside faster node synchronization. 

These optimizations reduce infrastructure costs for validators and improve the network's long-term scalability.

Security was a key priority throughout development. Before launch, the upgrade underwent extensive adversarial testing by Web3 security firm Sherlock. The audit identified 2 critical, 6 high, 29 medium, and 59 low-severity vulnerabilities, all of which were resolved before release. In total, 309,000 RLUSD was awarded through the bug bounty program, highlighting the ecosystem's commitment to rigorous security.

While version 3.3.0 is unlikely to trigger an immediate price reaction, its long-term impact could be significant. With native privacy, atomic transaction batching, enterprise-grade permissions, sponsored transactions, and more flexible token management, XRPL is expanding far beyond its role as a payments network. 

If validators approve the proposed amendments, the upgrade will further strengthen the ledger as a leading platform for institutional finance, tokenized real-world assets, and next-generation blockchain applications.
