Ripple Could Have 2 Billion Unlocked XRP in Two Wallets as November Escrow Release Approaches

Two Ripple wallets held 1 billion XRP from October as another 1 billion becomes eligible for release November 1. Here's what on-chain data reveals.

Key takeaways

  • Two Ripple wallets retained one billion October XRP
  • Another billion becomes releasable on November 1
  • Escrow releases do not automatically mean token sales

Ripple could soon have access to as much as 2 billion XRP across two closely watched wallets as its November escrow release approaches, raising questions about how the company will manage previously unlocked tokens.

According to XRP Ledger account records examined by TokenPost, two Ripple-labeled wallets still held 500 million XRP each on October 29 after receiving funds through four escrow-finishing transactions on October 1. Neither account had recorded a subsequent outgoing XRP payment during that period.

Meanwhile, on-chain escrow tracking identifies another 1 billion XRP scheduled to become releasable at 00:00 UTC on November 1, potentially doubling the amount available across the two accounts.

Ripple's October XRP Remains in Two Wallets

The unusual development centers on two accounts identified by XRPScan as Ripple 10 and Ripple 11.

On October 1, one wallet received 100 million and 400 million XRP, while the other received 200 million and 300 million XRP through completed escrow transactions.

The combined 1 billion XRP remained in place as of October 29, according to publicly reported account-history checks.

That makes the upcoming release particularly noteworthy because both accounts are also associated with November escrow objects containing another 500 million XRP each.

However, this does not mean Ripple has announced plans to sell 2 billion XRP.

Coinpaper previously examined the November unlock, noting that Ripple typically returns a substantial portion of released tokens to escrow rather than distributing the full amount.

The distinction between wallet balances, escrow releases and actual market sales remains essential when assessing XRP supply pressure.

November 1 Could Make Another Billion XRP Available

The next scheduled release involves two escrow objects containing 500 million XRP each.

According to ledger-based tracking, Ripple still has approximately 31.4 billion XRP locked across 98 escrow objects.

The original escrow mechanism was established in 2017 to make Ripple's XRP distribution more predictable.

Under the official XRP Ledger rules, reaching an escrow's release date does not automatically transfer funds. A valid EscrowFinish transaction is required.

Recent monthly activity also provides context.

Coinpaper reported that Ripple re-escrowed approximately 700 million XRP after October's gross release, leaving a net reduction of about 300 million XRP in its locked supply.

That historical pattern suggests the November release may again be followed by substantial re-locking.

However, the precise November distribution cannot be determined until transactions appear on the ledger.

Could 2 Billion XRP Put More Pressure on XRP Price?

XRP has already experienced considerable selling pressure during October, making Ripple's next supply-management decisions particularly relevant.

Earlier exchange-flow data showed 6.05 billion XRP moving onto trading platforms over 30 days, although deposits do not prove completed sales.

Institutional demand has also weakened despite cumulative XRP ETF investments exceeding $1.8 billion.

Coinpaper recently reported that ETF holdings had fallen in value as XRP declined, illustrating the gap between institutional inflows and price performance.

At the same time, Ripple's growing institutional business does not necessarily translate into immediate demand for XRP.

As a previous Ripple analysis explained, custody and payment services can expand independently of substantial XRP purchases.
