Key takeaways
- SoFi stock rebounds after stronger-than-expected quarterly earnings
- Revenue jumps 44% as membership reaches 17.1 million
- Raised forecasts contrast with steep year-to-date share losses
SoFi stock jumped in premarket trading Tuesday after the fintech reported a 44% increase in quarterly revenue, stronger-than-expected earnings and record customer growth. The rebound offered investors some relief after shares lost nearly 45% of their value during 2026.
SoFi Technologies reported $1.39 billion in third-quarter revenue, compared with $961.6 million a year earlier, while net income climbed 73% to $241 million.
The company earned $0.18 per share, beating analysts' $0.17 expectation, according to its October 27 earnings release.
SoFi Stock Rebounds as Earnings Beat Wall Street Expectations
SOFI shares climbed between approximately 5% and 11% in early premarket reports, following Monday's closing price of $14.46. The rally came after months of selling that left the stock almost 45% lower year-to-date.
Adjusted EBITDA reached $470 million, up 70% from the previous year, as the company benefited from expanding lending activity and lower funding costs.
The reaction contrasts with SoFi's second-quarter earnings, when shares declined despite reporting $1.2 billion in revenue and exceeding profit estimates.
SoFi also added a record 1.2 million members during the quarter, lifting its customer base to 17.1 million. Total products reached 26.7 million, suggesting customers are increasingly using multiple services within the platform.
Loan originations climbed to $16.9 billion, including $12.6 billion in personal loans and $2.9 billion in student loans.
SoFi Raises 2027 Revenue Forecast to $6.4 Billion
Management increased its 2026 adjusted revenue outlook to approximately $5.04 billion, implying annual growth of roughly 40%.
For 2027, SoFi expects $6.4 billion in adjusted revenue, $2.24 billion in adjusted EBITDA and earnings of $0.90 per share.
That forecast implies approximately 27% additional revenue growth next year, although delivering those results will depend partly on lending demand and credit conditions.
Not every business is expanding equally. Technology Platform revenue fell approximately 23% to $87.4 million, reflecting the loss of a major customer.
Meanwhile, SoFi continues diversifying beyond lending through banking, brokerage services and cryptocurrency products. Its earlier crypto trading launch introduced Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana access within its banking platform.
The company subsequently expanded its digital asset offering with Solana deposits and XRP support.
Can SoFi Stock Sustain Its Earnings Rally?
SoFi's latest results strengthen the case that its underlying business is growing despite the share-price decline.
However, investors still face questions about credit quality, valuation and whether higher interest rates could weaken consumer borrowing.
The company has also expanded into digital payments through its SoFiUSD stablecoin, adding another potential growth opportunity alongside traditional financial services.
SoFi's cryptocurrency expansion also comes as stablecoins challenge traditional banking services, potentially creating new competition and revenue opportunities for financial institutions.
