Key takeaways

  • Worldcoin falls nearly 7% after 21% weekly rally
  • WLD faces crucial support near the $0.50 level
  • Token supply concerns could complicate the next recovery

Worldcoin (WLD), the cryptocurrency associated with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman's digital identity project, fell nearly 7% on October 22, reversing part of a recent 21% weekly rally as traders reassessed the sustainability of its recovery.

WLD traded around $0.5455 early Thursday, down 6.61% over 24 hours. Trading volume also declined sharply, suggesting that the token's earlier upward momentum was cooling rather than accelerating into a broader breakout.

Worldcoin Price Drops as 21% Rally Loses Momentum

TheWorldcoin's trading volume declined approximately 38.5% during the selloff, while its market capitalization stood near $2.08 billion.

The toke n nevertheless remained in positive territory over the preceding week, indicating that the correction had not completely erased its recent gains.

Worldcoin has experienced similar reversals before. In May, WLD reached an 11-week high before retreating despite renewed interest in OpenAI-related trading products.

The volatility also resembles June's speculative rally, when Arthur Hayes-backed Maelstrom described Worldcoin as a promising AI-linked investment.

However, Hayes subsequently exited his WLD position, illustrating how quickly enthusiasm surrounding AI-related tokens can reverse.

Could Worldcoin Face More Selling Pressure?

Worldcoin's circulating supply remains an important consideration for traders evaluating its price outlook.

Tokenomics.com lists approximately 100.1 million WLD, valued near $59 million using its reference price, in an October 24 vesting event. Its allocation breakdown assigns 48.6% to community distribution, 28.3% to private investors and 23.1% to insiders.

However, token trackers differ in how they categorize World's ongoing releases. The event should not be treated as a confirmed one-time exchange deposit or an automatic increase in immediately tradable supply.

As Coinpaper explained in its token unlock analysis, scheduled releases do not necessarily trigger selling because recipients can retain their tokens.

World's ecosystem has also attracted corporate investment. Eightco previously reported a substantial WLD treasury position, providing another example of institutional exposure to the token.

Nevertheless, corporate holdings and growing adoption of World ID do not automatically establish fresh WLD buying demand.

Worldcoin Price Prediction: Will WLD Fall Below $0.50?

Near-term technical analysis places WLD's first major resistance around $0.596, with another hurdle near $0.624.

A sustained daily close above $0.60 would strengthen the bullish recovery scenario, potentially opening a move toward $0.62–$0.66 if trading activity improves.

Conversely, continued weakness below $0.54 could expose approximately $0.50, where several technical indicators identify stronger support.

A decisive break below that psychological threshold would shift attention toward $0.45, representing roughly 17% additional downside from the $0.54 area.

The investment argument remains closely connected to demand for proof-of-personhood technology. Yet previous institutional research has questioned whether expanding AI activity necessarily produces value for public blockchain tokens.
