Key takeaways
- Ripple partners with Stripe-owned Privy for XRPL wallets
- Developers gain support for XRP and RLUSD payments
- AI agents could automate transactions through x402 integration
Ripple has partnered with Stripe-owned wallet infrastructure provider Privy to bring embedded wallets to the XRP Ledger (XRPL), expanding the network's capabilities for stablecoin payments, financial applications and AI-powered transactions.
The October 13 announcement will allow developers to create and manage XRPL wallets directly within their applications, enabling transactions involving XRP, Ripple's RLUSD stablecoin and other network assets without requiring customers to install separate wallet software.
The partnership also targets autonomous AI payments, an emerging market where software agents can hold funds and pay for digital services without manual checkout processes.
Ripple and Stripe-Owned Privy Expand XRP Ledger Wallet Infrastructure
According to Privy's official announcement, developers will be able to create XRPL wallets programmatically, sign transactions and integrate blockchain-based payments into existing applications.
Privy became part of Stripe in 2025, providing wallet infrastructure used by fintech platforms and cryptocurrency applications. Its technology allows businesses to manage wallet creation and transaction authorization without developing those systems independently.
The integration supports both XRP and RLUSD, potentially simplifying stablecoin transfers for financial institutions and payment providers.
Users can also export private keys and recovery phrases, allowing them to move compatible wallets outside applications built with Privy.
The announcement follows growing institutional interest in RLUSD custody, including Standard Chartered's recent launch of custody services supporting Ripple's stablecoin on XRPL.
However, neither company disclosed transaction volumes, customer commitments or revenue projections associated with the new partnership.
AI Agents Could Use XRP and RLUSD for Automated Payments
Beyond conventional wallets, the partnership supports emerging applications involving autonomous artificial intelligence.
Privy's server-side wallets can allow AI agents to hold digital assets and authorize transactions through x402, a payment standard designed for automated purchases of online services.
For example, an AI assistant could potentially purchase access to an application programming interface, pay for computing resources or obtain data without requiring a human to approve every transaction.
The technology builds on existing XRPL AI payments, which already support automated transfers using XRP and RLUSD.
Nevertheless, enabling programmable payments does not guarantee widespread adoption. Developers must still create practical applications, establish funding mechanisms and demonstrate sufficient demand.
