Musk confirmed the planned change on X after a user suggested switching the name from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. He replied, “Yes, we will make that change,” after separately posting that there should be “no more AI” and describing SpaceX as a “super intelligence company.”
No timeline has been given, and SpaceX had not formally changed the account name or issued a corporate announcement at the time of publication.
SpaceXAI Would Get Its Second Rebrand in Months
The change would be the latest identity shift for Musk’s AI operation.
SpaceX absorbed xAI earlier this year, and Musk subsequently said the standalone xAI company would disappear into SpaceX. The business was then rebranded as SpaceXAI as its ambitions expanded into AI models, supercomputing and orbital data-center infrastructure.
The earlier SpaceXAI rebrand also came with trademark filings covering satellite data centers, cloud computing, model training and AI workload management.
SpaceX’s own regulatory filings similarly described xAI as being rebuilt under the broader SpaceX structure rather than continuing as a separate company.
The Rename Reflects a Bigger Shift in SpaceX
The branding change comes as SpaceX increasingly looks like more than a launch and satellite company.
Its AI operation now includes the Grok ecosystem and the Colossus computing infrastructure, while SpaceX has also expanded its AI-compute relationships with outside companies.
That strategy was already visible in the company’s Anthropic compute deal, which gave the Claude developer access to more than 300 megawatts of computing capacity at Colossus 1.
