InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) has continued its 2026 share repurchase program with another 80,000-share buyback. The hotel giant’s stock also gained more than 1% in its latest trading session.

IHG said it purchased 80,000 ordinary shares through Goldman Sachs International on Sept. 18. The shares were acquired at prices ranging from $151.65 to $153.65, with an average purchase price of $152.4493. That puts the value of the latest transaction at roughly $12.2 million. The company plans to cancel the repurchased shares.

Following the transaction, IHG has 147.27 million ordinary shares outstanding, excluding approximately 5.43 million shares held in treasury.

IHG’s $950 Million Buyback Continues

The latest purchase is part of a much larger capital-return program that was announced in February. IHG launched a $950 million share buyback for 2026 and said in August that 42% of the program had already been completed by the end of June. Combined with dividends, the company expects to return more than $1.2 billion to shareholders this year.

The continued repurchases come alongside improving operating results. During the first half of 2026, IHG reported a 10% year-over-year increase in operating profit from reportable segments to $665 million, while adjusted earnings per share jumped 13% to $2.747. Global revenue per available room, or RevPAR, increased 4.1%.

IHG also continued expanding its hotel network, and ended the first half with 7,109 hotels and more than 1.04 million rooms worldwide. Its development pipeline stood at 2,385 hotels.

IHG Stock Gains 1%

IHG shares were trading around $153.45 on Monday morning, up approximately 1.05% from the previous close of $151.85. The stock briefly traded above $153.50 during the session.

The latest gain puts the market price close to the upper end of the range at which IHG conducted Friday’s repurchases. While an individual buyback transaction is relatively small compared with IHG’s overall market value, continued cancellations gradually reduce the number of shares outstanding. This could potentially provide some more support for per-share earnings if profits remain resilient.
