Social media posts on Monday claimed the asset manager had just launched its Grayscale XRP Trust ETF (GXRP). The ETF is real, but it isn't new, it began trading on NYSE Arca in November 2025.

The fresher development is arguably more interesting: Grayscale has assigned XRP a 26.11% weighting in its new Digital Assets Next Gen model portfolio.

That makes XRP the portfolio's second-largest position behind Ethereum, while Bitcoin is notably absent.

Why Is XRP Getting 26%?

Model portfolios are designed to give financial advisors ready-made asset allocations that can be incorporated into client investment strategies.

Giving XRP more than a quarter of the Next Gen portfolio therefore puts it in an unusually prominent position.

Grayscale already offers conventional XRP exposure through GXRP, which holds XRP directly while investors buy shares through traditional brokerage accounts.

The fund charges a 0.35% sponsor fee. Investors receive exposure to XRP's price without needing to manage wallets or custody tokens themselves, although owning GXRP shares is not the same as directly owning XRP.

XRP ETFs Are Already Accumulating

The timing is notable because XRP ETF demand has remained relatively strong even as other crypto funds struggle.

U.S. XRP ETFs recently attracted about $19 million in weekly inflows, while Bitcoin ETFs suffered substantial withdrawals. XRP ETFs outperformed Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana in recent U.S. flows.

Current estimates suggest U.S. spot XRP ETFs collectively hold around 1.1 billion XRP, creating a growing institutional pool of the token.

That's what makes Grayscale's latest allocation interesting. XRP is no longer simply available through institutional products, it is increasingly being actively included in portfolio strategies.

Could It Move XRP's Price?

Not immediately.

A 26.11% model weighting does not mean advisors must allocate 26% of client portfolios to XRP, and it does not guarantee money will automatically flow into GXRP.

But it creates another route through which traditional investors could gain XRP exposure.
