XRP-FedNow Claims Ignite Fresh Speculation Around Volante’s Ripple Connection

XRP is back in the spotlight after claims emerged that the token could potentially be used alongside the Federal Reserve’s FedNow infrastructure through Volante Technologies.

More notably, these claims have sparked fresh excitement across the XRP community, with commentators including Whale Insider and Pumpius presenting the connection as a potentially significant infrastructure development.

The reality, however, is more nuanced. The key link is Volante, a payment technology provider that enables financial institutions to connect to multiple payment rails. Its platform supports FedNow as well as RTP, ACH, Fedwire and SWIFT, while Volante also has a longstanding relationship with Ripple.

Well, the Ripple connection dates back to 2015, when Volante announced that its VolPay platform could connect financial institutions to Ripple’s payment network.

This has fueled speculation that XRP could eventually become one of several settlement or liquidity options available through the same banking infrastructure used to access FedNow.

FedNow is the Federal Reserve’s 24/7 instant-payment service, allowing participating financial institutions to send and receive payments within seconds. Volante is also featured in the Federal Reserve’s FedNow Service Provider Showcase.

What’s the critical distinction? Well, this does not mean the Federal Reserve has officially integrated XRP into FedNow.

There is no confirmed evidence that XRP is an official FedNow settlement asset or that the Federal Reserve has endorsed XRP for use on the system. Being listed as a FedNow service provider also does not mean the Federal Reserve endorses a provider’s other products or integrations.

Volante-Ripple Link Fuels XRP’s FedNow Hype, But Adoption Remains Unproven

The more accurate picture is that Volante provides banks with access to multiple payment technologies through a single platform.

A financial institution could use Volante for FedNow payments while separately accessing Ripple-related infrastructure for other settlement or cross-border needs. This possibility has nevertheless strengthened the bullish narrative around XRP.

If financial institutions eventually adopt XRP as a liquidity or settlement option within multi-rail payment systems, it could reinforce the token’s institutional use case, particularly for cross-border transactions. Ripple has long promoted XRP as a bridge asset for moving value between different fiat currencies.

The development has also sparked comparisons with SWIFT, although the two systems serve different functions. FedNow is designed primarily for instant domestic U.S. payments, while SWIFT is a global financial messaging network heavily used for cross-border transactions.

XRP would not necessarily need to replace either system to benefit. Greater integration with multi-rail financial infrastructure could instead give it a role alongside existing payment networks.

Meanwhile, XRP’s recent market performance has added further fuel to the speculation, with CoinCodex data showing the top altcoin trading at $1.46 after a move toward $1.50.

For XRP holders, the bigger story may be optionality. Volante illustrates how traditional payment rails and blockchain-based infrastructure can coexist within the same banking technology stack.

The key question is whether financial institutions ultimately choose to use XRP through these connections at scale. Until that happens, claims that XRP is already directly integrated with FedNow should be viewed as speculation, not confirmed adoption.

Still, the Volante-Ripple connection gives the XRP community another reason to watch the rapidly evolving payment infrastructure landscape.
