XRP Lands in BitPay Wallet as Trading Volume Surges Past $13 Billion

XRP has gained another major route to mainstream crypto users after BitPay officially added the asset to its self-custody wallet. Users in the U.S. and other supported regions can now buy, sell, swap, send, receive and spend XRP directly from the wallet.

BitPay announced the integration on X, formerly Twitter, emphasizing that users can move in and out of XRP while maintaining control of their private keys. The move expands XRP’s reach beyond traditional exchanges and into a payments-focused ecosystem with millions of users.

What’s happening behind the scenes? Well, XRP is trading at $1.38, with a market capitalization of roughly $86.69 billion and 24-hour trading volume at $13.61 billion per CoinCodex data.

The top altcoin has also posted a reported 16.81% gain over the past 24 hours, highlighting the sharp increase in market activity.

A Bigger Gateway for XRP

BitPay’s support goes beyond simply adding XRP to a wallet. This is the case because the BitPay Wallet is self-custodial, users retain control of their private keys rather than leaving their assets in the hands of a centralized platform.

Depending on regional availability and supported partners, users can purchase XRP, swap it for other assets, send and receive it, and use it for eligible payments, all within the BitPay ecosystem.

The integration comes as XRP’s broader ecosystem continues to expand. Ripple, Clearpool and Cicada Partners are also bringing institutional-grade credit to the XRP Ledger, with RLUSD expected to play a role in real-world lending.

Therefore, these developments highlight XRP’s growing presence across payments, trading and institutional finance.

Why BitPay Could Matter

The biggest advantage is accessibility. Putting XRP directly inside a widely used wallet and payments ecosystem could make it easier for users to acquire and use the altcoin without relying solely on centralized exchanges.

More notably, this creates a potential adoption cycle whereby greater wallet access  triggers easier XRP purchases.

What’s the ripple effect? Well, more holders, deeper liquidity, and broader payment utility.

With XRP’s trading volume already above $13 billion, BitPay’s integration arrives at a time of heightened market interest. Even modest adoption among BitPay users could introduce XRP to a wider pool of buyers and payment users.

For XRP, this is more than another wallet listing. It puts the asset in front of millions of potential users while reinforcing its position as both a highly traded digital asset and a cryptocurrency built for payments.
