GOOG Stock Tanks 3% Despite Google Signing 5-Year Cloud & AI Deal With Ryanair

Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) shares fell 3.14% to $343 even as Google secured a five-year cloud and artificial intelligence partnership with Ryanair. The agreement will bring Google's Gemini AI, DeepMind models, Workspace, and cloud services into the airline's operations as Ryanair prepares for further passenger growth.

Ryanair plans to deploy the technology across about 35,000 employees. The airline will use Google's AI systems for crew scheduling, operational decisions, maintenance planning and other internal tasks while pursuing its target of carrying 300 million passengers annually by 2034.

Ryanair Signs Five-Year Google Cloud and AI Deal

Google Cloud will become part of Ryanair's dual-cloud strategy, adding another technology provider to its existing cloud infrastructure. Ryanair said the approach will reduce its exposure to technology outages while providing additional computing capacity as its operations expand.

“To support this growth, we need to ensure we have excellent infrastructure resilience,” Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson said. He added that the company's dual-cloud strategy will provide that capacity while working with technology partners focused on speed and efficiency.

Gemini Enterprise will allow Ryanair to develop custom AI agents that can automate selected decisions and workflows. The airline plans to use the technology to improve crew scheduling, manage disruptions and support employees across its network.

Financial terms of the five-year agreement were not disclosed. Google Cloud Vice President Maureen Costello said deploying generative AI at scale can help large companies reduce operating costs while supporting employees and business growth.

Google DeepMind Models Join Ryanair Operations

Ryanair will also use Google DeepMind technology, including AlphaEvolve and WeatherNext. The carrier plans to apply the models to areas such as fleet operations and maintenance scheduling as it expands its use of AI beyond customer-facing services.

The deployment gives Google's AI business another aviation customer as airlines increase their use of artificial intelligence for internal operations. Ryanair's agreement places AI tools directly into areas covering flight operations, employee productivity and aircraft planning.

The airline expects the technology rollout to support its expansion toward 300 million annual passengers by 2034. Ryanair remains Europe's largest airline by passenger numbers and continues to invest in infrastructure designed to handle its growing network.

Google Workspace will also become available across Ryanair's workforce as part of the agreement, providing collaboration tools alongside the cloud and AI systems.
