Ripple Says Bank Blockchain Pilots Are Over as XRP Ledger Powers Real Capital Markets

Ripple believes the era of blockchain experimentation has given way to real-world adoption. According to Ripple President Monica Long, financial institutions are no longer confined to proof-of-concept trials, they are actively deploying tokenized assets across production-grade capital markets.

Following Ripple's strategic investments in ZILO and Liquido, Long said on X that "the light switch just flipped" from bank pilots to live deployment, signaling a major shift in institutional adoption.

She argued that tokenization has moved beyond a promising innovation to becoming core financial infrastructure.

"In the last year, we've seen the veritable light switch flip—from bank pilots to production, from issuing tokenized assets like money market funds and liquidity funds to using them. Institutional capital markets are moving in one direction—onchain 24/7."

Her comments accompanied Ripple's investments in ZILO and Liquido, two firms building key institutional infrastructure on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). As a result, the investments deepen Ripple's push to position XRPL as the foundation for next-generation capital markets.

Ripple Builds the Missing Infrastructure for Institutional Tokenized Finance

Ripple's strategy extends well beyond tokenizing assets. The company is building the infrastructure institutions need to issue, manage, move, and settle digital financial products at scale.

ZILO provides regulated issuance technology that enables banks, asset managers, and financial institutions to tokenize products such as money market funds, bonds, and other investment vehicles while remaining compliant with regulatory requirements.

Liquido complements that offering by solving collateral mobility, allowing tokenized assets to move seamlessly across financial networks. Its technology enables institutions to pledge digital assets as collateral, transfer them efficiently between counterparties, accelerate settlement, and unlock liquidity with far fewer frictions than traditional market infrastructure.

For Long, the real breakthrough is not the ability to tokenize assets, but the fact that institutions are now putting those assets to work.

Tokenized funds are increasingly being used for trading, collateral management, liquidity optimization, and settlement, clear signs that blockchain is becoming embedded in mainstream finance.

Ripple believes this momentum will drive the transition to always-on capital markets, where assets can be issued, traded, and settled 24/7 rather than being limited by banking hours or legacy systems. Powered by the XRP Ledger, institutions can benefit from near-instant settlement, lower operating costs, and continuous market access.

The investments in ZILO and Liquido therefore represent more than strategic venture funding. They strengthen Ripple's vision of building a complete institutional digital asset ecosystem spanning regulated issuance, collateral management, liquidity, settlement, and redemption, positioning the XRP Ledger as the backbone of the next generation of global capital markets.
