0G and AKINDO Launch $50K WaveHack Buildathon for AI Developers

Join WaveHack, a 6-wave AI buildathon starting Aug 14 with $50K in grants. Build blockchain-powered AI apps and compete for growing rewards.

0G, a decentralized Layer 1 network built for AI workloads, has partnered with AKINDO to launch WaveHack — a free, six-wave buildathon designed to foster innovation in blockchain-powered AI applications. The event begins on August 14 with a live workshop and offers a $50,000 grant pool for standout projects.

A Modular Blockchain for AI Innovation

Billed as the first decentralized Layer 1 for advanced AI, 0G connects hardware resources such as compute and storage with data and models to enable verifiable, censorship-resistant AI applications. The network’s modular architecture is designed to handle large-scale AI execution while supporting diverse use cases.

WaveHack participants will gain access to 0G’s infrastructure and receive mentorship from the project’s developer team. The kickoff event, hosted on YouTube by AKINDO, will feature 0G’s Developer Relations lead Gathin T, who will introduce the core components of the tech stack — including compute, storage, and data availability modules — alongside practical application examples.

Six Waves, Increasing Rewards

The buildathon will run in six two-week phases, with grant allocations increasing in each wave. The final round will award $13,000 to the top teams, while developers who participate in all six waves will share an additional $2,000 bonus.

Projects will be judged on:

  • Working Demo & Functionality – 30%

  • 0G Tech Stack Integration – 30%

  • Creativity & User Experience – 15%

  • Real Use Case & Scalability – 10%

  • Vision & Roadmap – 10%

This structure is intended to encourage iterative development, allowing participants to refine and resubmit projects across multiple waves.

Suggested Development Tracks

While developers have creative freedom, 0G has proposed several project ideas, including:

  • Onchain AI-powered chatbots or personal assistants

  • Decentralized social platforms with AI-curated feeds

  • AI-driven DeFi dashboards or algorithmic trading bots

  • Collaborative AI research tools

  • NFT marketplaces with dynamic, AI-generated traits

  • Games using AI for NPCs, world-building, or player analytics

Building the Next Generation of AI dApps

According to 0G, WaveHack is designed not only to incentivize innovation but also to equip participants with the skills, tools, and network connections needed to advance blockchain-based AI solutions. The grant pool aims to help top teams bring their concepts to market, supporting real-world adoption of AI-native decentralized applications.

Developers can register for WaveHack and join the August 14 kickoff session through AKINDO’s event platform.
